The Macallen Building changes the way architecture fuses with the environment by being Boston’s 1st residential “Green Building” with modern design, high-end amenities and unique outdoor space. The development team is committed to the environment and are seeking LEED Certification utilizing sustainability methods, which will result in Gold level LEED certification, the first in Boston. The installation of low-energy consumption fixtures and systems will reduce utility bills and common fees to each unit owner. Energy-efficient fixtures include:

- Double flush toilet, using two-thirds the water of a standard low flow unit.
- Extensive use of natural lighting, providing heat as well as light to the individual units.
- Green Roof— insulates the roof keeping the building cooler in summer and warmer in winter
- Storm water will irrigate the terrace roof, reducing the dependency and cost of public water
- Insulated windows reducing the heating load in winter.
